Although the island of Donoussa is small in size, it has some nice chapels scattered around it. The locals are very religious and organized nice festives on the name day of their saints. |

The protector of the island is the church of the Holy Cross, close to the port. This is a big church with a blue dome and a tall bell tower. Every year on September 14th, its name day, there is a big festival on the island, where locals and visitors participate.
Of great importance is also the church of Panagia and Agios Ioannis, built on a hill overlooking Donoussa village. This church wa built in 1892 and from this location, you can enjoy the best sunset of the island. |

Other beautiful chapels include the church of Agios Georgios in Kalotaritissa village, about 10 km from the port. Its white colour and blue dome certifies its Cycladic architectural style.
On a hill above Mersini village, you can see the beautiful church of Agia Sophia with nice views to the blue Aegean sea.
