Three fine sandy beaches surround Ormos: Milos beach, which has a wind-surfing school, Vidgi-Agia Ekaterinis beach and the distinctive beach called "Tis Grias to Pidima" (The Old Lady's Leap). Some old traditional footpaths lead to picturesque pigeon-houses.
The nearby valley of Dipotamata is also worth the visit, with its unique watermills, an area of a great natural beauty, transformed in an ecological museum of water-power.
Near Ormos is situated the fine village of Kaparia with its lovely dovecotes, watermills and old stone houses.
The villages Vouni, Gianiseo, Lardia, Piskopio with their old churches, stone bridges, watermills and windmills, cool springs, plane trees and old stone houses. There is also Chones, Alamania, Kochilou where is the beautiful Venetian Upper Castle (Pano Kastro) or Faneromeni Castle and the village of Sineti located in an amazing gorge. |
