We stayed in a small hotel in Panormos to be close to the beach. Last time in Crete we had stayed in a hotel in the Old Town of Chania to be more picturesque, but this year we wanted sandy beaches and lazy days under the sun. Perivolia is actually a small cove of the large beach of Rethymnon town. It was very windy when we went, in the evening as the locals told us that it usually gets windy after 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon. You will find nice taverns along Perivolia and many sun beds to lay on.... More >
Panormos has many umbrellas and sun beds. I particularly liked to go swim in the evening because it was less crowded.
