Rethymno: Geropotamos Rethymno

Rethymno Geropotamos: Geropotamos beach is a nice cove 20 km far from Rethymno to the east, right off the National Highway to Heraklion. The beach is placed beneath Geropotamos bridge and can easily be accessed by bus or car.

The waters are clean but deep and, as there is no ligeguard, extra attention is needed. The seashore is mostly sandy, but also pebbled in some areas. In summer, the beach is affected by northern winds, which are called meltemia and are quite often in Greece.
