Helona is a beautiful tavern located in the Venetian harbor of Rethymnon, overlooking the sea and the picturesque fishing boats. The restaurant opened its doors in 1965 offering a large dining area that can accommodate nearly 170 people. The menu stands out for its special varieties in fish and seafood. The owner has a private boat that brings in the best catch from the Cretan Sea, so that visitors can choose their meal.
The restaurant preserves its traditional style and the menu has both international and Cretan dishes. Dishes, like lamb kleftiko, soutzoukakia, pastitsio and the fisherman salad, are among the Cretan specialties. Some of the best wines and local drinks are served here to accompany your meal, including white, red and rose wines from the local vineyards of Crete. The friendly atmosphere and the spectacular views to the sea create a unique dining experience.
