Lassithi Trapeza: The impressive Cave of Trapeza or Kronion Andron in Lassithi, Crete

Lassithi Trapeza CaveThe Cave of Trapeza in Lassithi Crete: The Cave of Trapeza, or Kronion Andron as it is also called, is a very impressive cave close to Tzermiado, the largest village of the Lassithi Plateau. It can be reached through a trekking path from Tzermiado, among rocky mountains. This is one more of the many caves that scientists have discovered in the remote Cretan mountainside.

Inside this cave, archaeologists have found elements of the pre-Minoan era. In fact, in the Neolithic era, Trapeza Cave was used as a place of cult at first and then for residence.

Impressive stalactites and stalagmites can be seen today inside this cave. The 185 m entrance is narrow and its rocks have the colour of green ice.
