On Saturday July 3rd, the new Museum of Nikos Kazantzakis will be inaugurated in Myrtia village, close to Heraklion Crete. Literature people, politicians and journalists are invited to this event that will start at 7.30 in the afternoon.

Speeches of the president of the museum, the manager of Benaki Museum in Athens and the god-daughter of Kazantzakis will follow, while the event will finish with a concert of Maria Farantouri, a famous Greek singer who will interpret songs inspired by works of the writer. This museum was first inaugurated in 1983 by the then Minister of Culture Melina Merkouri but as the years passed, there was the need for renovating the museum and making it more attractive to modern visitors. With educational programs, electronic productions and digital archives, this museum opts to contribute even more in the presentation of the Cretan writer.
