A great controversy has risen in Heraklion, between the taxi drivers and the local authorities. In particular, the minicipality of Heraklion, in cooperation with the Administration of the Urban Buses, has decided to install minibuses that will move people around the town of Heraklion for free. This hits directly the interests of the taxi-drivers, who get ready to protest dynamically against the decision. As they say, there are families who make their living exclusively from taxi driving and this measure theatens their economic survival.
