Crete Heraklion Prinias: A mountainous village on the way from Knossos to Gortyn, Prinias is a traditional settlement with stone houses, narrow streets and beautiful churches.

Totally untouched by tourism, Prinias is an authentic Cretan village where people make their living from agriculture and cattle-breeding. The surrounding region is mountainous and green, with many pine trees and fun trees.

Located at a distance of about 25 km south west of Heraklion Town, the modern village is built on the site of ancient Rizinia, a Minoan settlement of the same time as Lato. Some remains of the Minoan era can presently be seen close to Prinias.
