General information

Prinias Heraklion: Prinias is a traditional settlement with stone houses, narrow streets and beautiful churches. It is located 25 south west of Heraklion town on the way from Knossos to Gortyn.

Totally untouched by tourism, Prinias is an authentic mountainous village where people make their living from agriculture and cattle-breeding. The surrounding region is mountainous and green, with many pine trees and fun trees.

The village is built on the site of ancient Rizinia, a Minoan settlement of the same time as Lato. Some remains of the Minoan era can presently be seen close to Prinias.
