Information about Flights to Crete:
The island of Crete has two international airports.
The largest is the airport of Heraklion and the second largest is at Chania. There is also a small domestic airport in Sitia.
Heraklion and Chania airports offer regular flights to Athens Greece (both trip take about 45 minutes). There are also direct flights to Thessaloniki and the trip takes about 1 hour and a half. In summer, there are also charter flights to other internal airports of Greece and the Greek islands.
Apart from domestic flights, these airports also receive frequent charter flights from abroad. In particular, the low-cost air company Easy Jet operates flights from European cities to the airports of Chania and Heraklion.
Urban buses and taxis are running
out of the terminals, linking them to the main towns
of Crete.
Some hotels are also offering free transfer from the airport by private bus or car.
Many car agencies have their office at the airports of Chania and Heraklion, so you may rent cars and motorbikes from there.
