Direct daily ferries link Piraeus to Heraklion, Chania and Rethymno. The trip from Piraeus to Chania lasts from 5-8 hours, depending on the vessel. The trip from Piraeus to Rethymno lasts for about 4 hours and a half, while it takes about 8 hours to go from Piraeus to Heraklion.
 
There are also regular ferry itineraries from Heraklion to Thessaloniki via Santorini, Paros, Tinos, Naxos, Syros, Skopelos and Skiathos. The whole trip from Heraklion to Thessaloniki lasts for about 30 hours. From Heraklion, there is also a hydrofoil going to Rhodes in one hour. Hydrofoils also go to Santorini (about 30 minutes), Folegandros (about 3 hours), Mykonos (1 hour and a half), Ios (about 3 hours) and Paros (about 4 hours).

The port of Kastelli-Kissamos, close to Chania, proposes trips to Kythira, Antikythira and Gytheio in about 4-5 hours.

Ferries to Kasos and Karpathos leave from the port of Sitia.

The ports of Rethymno and Chania are connected only to Piraeus.
