 The Prefecture of Chania and the Municipality of Inochori are setting up and cofinancing the project to create a Diving Park in Elafonisi. The study of this project is expected to last for six months and will include the creation of artificial reefs in the area.
As Elafonisi is considered as one of the best beaches in Crete, the pure crustal water and the artificial park are expected to attract diving tourism in the area. It will also contribute in the development of this region, which is one of the most beautiful in Crete.
Elafonisi is actually a small islet on the western side of Chania region, connected to the mainland by boat from Paleochora. It is a place of exceptional beauty and has the cleanest water and the softest sand. It is about 80 km far from Chania.
