The new Acropolis Museum in Athens marks the end of a period of planning and discussion that has lasted for more than 30 years. The museum will be the first to house a large part of the Acropolis findings under one roof. The extensive use of glass as building material ensures that the majority of the over 4,000 objects can be presented in Attic daylight. Resting on over 100 columns, the building also roofs an archaeological excavation, thus turning the museum visit into an exciting live experience. The exhibition shown at the Pergamon Museum was prepared by the Organisation for the Building of a New Acropolis Museum and the First Ephory in Athens, and supported by the Greek Cultural Foundation. It offers a survey of the restoration work at the Acropolis, introduces the new exhibition building, and presents four ancient sculptures discovered during the building work for the new museum.
