The Herakleidon Museum of Visual Arts in Athens presents the exhibition entitled "Woman as Muse, 1900-1950" from September 3rd to November 21st, 2010. This exhibition showcases about 90 artistic works on paper, watercolours, prints and drawings of the first half of the 20th century, from 1900 to 1950. Paintings are works of European and Greek artists, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen, Spiris Vassiliou, Yiannis Moralis and many other famous artists.
The works come from the museum's collection, the Greek National Gallery, the Alpha Bank Collection and the private collections of George Economou and Charalambos Leontiadis. As the title shows, the exhibition "Woman as Muse, 1900-1950" is dedicated to women as an inspiration to artists of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds, from the ancient times till today.
