Walking in the National Gardens of Athens from June 1st to August 10th, visitors will have the chance to enjoy the scultpure exhibition of Mrs Vana Xenou, entitled The soul of the land.
19 big platforms have been installed around the National Gardens that host 85 statues. The whole exhibition is inspired by the the Greek history and mythology: Persephone at the time of her abduction from Hades; Hecate, the mother of the Troyan princes; and many scenes from the Eleysinian Mysteries.
"I am interested in the relation of the Greeks with their cultural background. I was always looking for an identity and an anagoge of the myths to artistic elements", said Mrs Xenou for her works. The exhibition is inaugurated in June 1st and will last till August 10th.
The National Gardens are located next to the Parliament House in Syntagma Square, in the heart of Athens, and they are open from sunrise to sunset.
