20 years after the death of the famous Greek painter Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, the Benaki Museum in Athens is organizing an exhibition dedicated to his memory. The exhibition is entitled Ghika- Fermor- Craxton: 3 places, 3 creators and it presents the friendship between the three artists and the impact of the Greek landscape on their work. The exhibition takes place at the Ghika Gallery, home of the great painter which was donated to the Benaki Museum by the artist himself, until January 10th, 2015.

The Greek painter Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, the English travel writer Sir Patrick Leigh-Fermor and the English painter John Craxton were lifelong friends, who shared the same passion for the Greek countryside. The house of Fermor in Kardamyli, southern Peloponnese, the manor of Ghika in Hydra and his residence of Craxton in Corfu were places that inspired their work.

The exhibition shows original letters that they sent to each other, manuscripts, editions and photos. Drawings of Ghika and Craxton are also exhibited in a separate section.

Where: Ghika Gallery, Kriezotou str 3, Kolonaki Athens
Opening hours: Wednesday to Saturday 10:00-18:00
