From March 2012, the Herakleidon Museum of Visual Arts presents an exhibition with works of M.C. Escher and V. Vasarely from its permanent collections. The works on display will be periodically renewed till the end of the exhibition, in May 2013. The works were chosen for the theme Art and Mathematics: from the aesthetics of Art to the logic of Mathematics and aim in a productive dialogue between art and science, broadening the intellectual horizons of the public.

On the first floor of the museum, the works of Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) are exhibited. V. Vasarely, French painter of Hungarian descent, is universally recognized as the father of Op-Art. He believed in social art, an art that would not only be a priviledge of the elite. 25 of his serigraphs will be on display in the exhibition. The second floor is dedicated to the Dutch print maker and graphic artist Maurits Cornelos Escher (1898-1972), whose work is considered a symbolic bridge between science and art. About 40 prints of M.C.Escher from the museum's collection are on display in this exhibition.

Upon request, the museum organizes group tours of the exhibition in many languages and by appointment.

Opening hours Friday: 13:00-21:00
Saturday-Sunday: 11:00-19:00
Monday-Thursday: closed
