Exuberant informative Kassandra

The tour guide makes or breaks a coach tour and my guide, Kassandra brought the Greek history alive for me.
Such a subject could get boring or all the players end up a muddle, but not so with this sassy Greek lady.
I clicked with her immediately and have to say by the end of our tour I knew so much more than I could ever have expected due to her fun and in depth commentary on all the history we encountered along the way.
She even brought the sun out on a foggy, misty, rainy morning at Meteoroa so I could get the best photo shots.
Great tour guide.
Imagine my surprise, and her's on Sunday morning to find she was guiding my tour up to Acropolis and the museum.
I got the best tour guide and she made a world of difference.

This was a fabulous tour. Anthony, the tour guide was amazing. His knowledge was incredible and he made the whole tour incredibly interesting. We loved this tour!!! We went to some amazing places and saw sites we had only read about. I really enjoyed going to Olympia, going through the tunnel and walking down the track where myriads of athletes would have run. Agamemnon's tomb was absolutely incredible. I was so amazed at how it had been built. Those ancient Greeks were awe-inspiring.

We got to visit the most popular spots of the Greek mainland through this 5 days tour from Athens. This was actually a very enjoyable spring break for us. Greece in May is a marvel, with lovely towns, long days of sunshine and beautiful nature. After two days of sightseeing in Athens, we stepped on the bus and got to discover the nice countryside. Roads are good (some parts are windy, some are highway), hotels were great and not crowded in spring, people were very helpful. No problem at all. Just have cash with you because stores in small places in Greece rarely accept credit cards.

Fab tour, very satisfied with the organization and places we visited. Meteora was the top, can't believe there are such places in Greece! It was a dream going up the narrow road with the bus among these huge solid rocks. Would love to come back one day. This is a nice tour before heading to the islands. See the sightseeing and then go to the islands to relax and swim. The program is heavy but places you pass by are very impressive.

This tour hit all the main stops mainland Greece. Unfortunatly though, the tour guide we were with tried to short cut us on almost every stop. In Mycenae, she brought us to the lion gate, then told us there was nothing else we wanted to see and that we should go to the bus. We paid 535euro per person, and we were not going to be shortcutted. It's not like we were coming back next week. In Olympia, our tour guide did not show us around anywhere except Temple of Zeus, Hera, the Stadium and the Gymnasium. She left no time for photos after her talking, and kept insisting that we sit in front of her and listen to her talk rather than stand up and take pictures while she was talking. Once inside the museums, she would focus on one small object and speak for 10 minutes, again insisting everyone was right there with her and not looking at anything else in the room, and as soon as she was finished would move to the next room without time to look at anything except the small item she had just spoke about. The tour guide was a very kind woman, but just too old for what she was doing. In Delphi, she didn't want us to go to the stadium there because it was too much walking. For her I suppose. Any stop we made where there was a little extra walking involved, she tried to talk us out of going. Like the temple of athena nike, also in Delphi. She didn't want us to go there either, but we insisted. It was very infuriating the entire trip.

Also, we changed buses at the beginning and end of the trip. It would have been nice to have been warned that upon picking the 5 day tour, we would just be tagged along different day tour groups. That was kind of aggravating as well. As far as the optional lunch goes, we were prepared to pay for our lunches on the tour. Any other tour we have gone on before, we have been allowed to pick the restaurant we want to eat at since we are paying out of pocket. On this tour, we were told the restaurant we will be eating at, usually a restaurant chain of the hotel we stayed at the night before. The food was never good at them, and we only had options of salad, souvlaki (kebab), or pasta. Which was the same option for the dinner usually as well. Also, the tour was not only in English, but Italian as well. We wasted a lot of time with the tour guide having to repeat everything she just told us in English, to the one Italian. The Italian lady was sweet, but it was just frustrating that we paid for an english tour and half the time was spent listening to Italian. I believe with a different tour guide this tour would have been a lot different, and probably better. I do recommend something being done about the 'optional' lunches though, not only us but the rest of the tour group was unhappy about it as well.

Our answer to the above review:

We have read carefully your comments and we have to mention that Mrs Rouli is one of the most respectable guides we have and we are knowing her for more than 20 years without any incidents. We also checked the bus computer in order to see the time you stopped in the archaeological sites and the guide followed exactly the program. You stayed in Epidaurus 1h7min, Mycenae and Tomb 1h27min, Olympia site and museum 3h55min, Delphi pronaia, Site and museum almost 3h30m and Meteora 3h45m.

I understand that some clients may wish to have more free time in order to have photos but in an organized tour we have to fulfill the needs and interest for many different people with different culture, so we have to follow a schedule that combines all needs and for sure we include free time for photos, too.

As far as the lunch break is concerned, we suggest our clients restaurants that we have tested through the years for their quality and variety of Greek and international meals.

Our tours are normally in English language but sometimes as stated in our program it may be in two languages.

We always try our best to make sure that our guests stay happy with our service and the tours offered. Once again we thank you for your time and effort for sharing this information with us.

Hidden treasures in mainland

Loved the archaeological sites we passed by! Especially Delphi was my favourite, we were all excited with site and the view from above the theatre was just breathtaking. I was just speechless to see the model of Ancient Delphi inside the museum, how could people have made these things so many centuries ago? It must have been a miracle for those times! Mycenae was also impressive with the giant walls and Olympia with the stadium, but Delphi is awesome! This and Meteora are the highlights of this tour for me.

The tour guide and driver were very kind and friendly, in fact we had a very interesting coffee chat on the economics of Greece one night. Such talkative people should be hired as guides, well done on the agency! Hotels and food were nice. I travel in the islands for about 5 years and I am happy that I finally took the time for a tour in the mainland. It hides treasures that I hardly believed I found.
