Truly a journey to the hidden part of Athens. This is a route that few tourists go mostly because they simply do not know these quarters. Most tourists go to the Acropolis, Plaka and Syntagma and no where else. They stay two nights in Athens and then head to the islands. This is a nice plan, but I suggest you spend one more day in Athens to walk round the hidden parts from Panepistimio metro through Karitsi Square to Omonoia. This is not the brightest side of the town, but it is very lively. Yannis was a great guide and really helpful. I loved the bougatsa and hated pastourma but glad I tried it. Do not miss the loukoumas with honey or chocolate, most delicious sweet in Greece!
