Alatsi in Athens
Alatsi is a restaurant that brought a special essence in the town of Athens since it opened its doors in September of 2005. Stavros Theodorakis, the famous journalist created this restaurant out of love for him homeland, Crete, and for the traditional world-known products which are the basis for a healthy way of life. Alatsi, the restaurant name, is a word used in Crete and it means salt.
The menu has all the original products that are brought straight from Crete and the best chefs, two main reasons that has been awarded with 3 Gourmet and 1 Golden Chef's Hat prizes. The recommended dishes are gamopilafo (wedding pilaf, that is lamb and chicken risotto) and apaki (smoked pork with pita bread, gruyere and grape). Also, try the amazing salads and tsikoudia (Cretan drink). The dining room is filled with light colorings and modern style and the service is very efficient.
