What else can someone want from a tour in Greek mainland? We are still excited about it, even 2 weeks after the tour, and back to our normal life and work.
So many places, so many information, so much history and pictures in my head. I will try to make a fast rewind, mostly about the "hidden" joys of the tour and not the actual sightseeing, which as you can imagine it was a dreamy journey to the past.
So! Once in Corinth Canal and after you take your pictures of course, do not miss souvlaki before continuing your trip! Was so delicious.. I only regret I didn't buy 2!
In Naflpio we found a great taverna with live Greek music. The place was a bit hidden, at a narrow behind the main square. So, do not stay at the square waiting to be picked up! The place was too traditional. Music was too weird to my ears, but I enjoyed it. Taverna's red wine was amazing!
Another "hidden" beauty is Arachova. You will make a stop, on your way to Meteora. Apart from the village being beautiful, with traditional rocky buildings, there are many warm and cozy cafes. Chocolate pie is more than recommended!
On our way back to Athens, I liked our stop to the statue of Leonidas, but I also feel a bit sad about it. Such an important monument, of such a great man, being there in the middle of nowhere. I know that this is the actual place that it happened, so it cannot be moved, or maybe Leonidas likes that, who knows... just my thoughts.
