Athens Syntagma Neighbourhood
Syntagma Athens: Syntagma square (Constitution square) is located at the centre of modern Athens. It faces the Greek Parliament, this impressive palace that used to be the residency of King Otto. In front of this aristocratic building are the soldiers, known as the Evzones who guard the Greek Parliament wearing the traditional Greek uniform.
Today, Syntagma square houses the homonymous metro station and a couple of nice cafes. It is worth mentioning that it is one of the largest squares in Greece surrounded by beautiful luxurious hotels, a lot of travel agencies and many exchange booths.
Right opposite the square are many taxis and bus stations for the best convenience of the tourists. Within a short walking distance from Syntagma you can access some of the most picturesque neighbourhoods of Athens like Plaka, Monastiraki, Thissio and Psiri. Ermou street, the most famous shopping street in Athens, begins from the square.
