The Wine Museum, a part of the Markou Group, is located in Pallini, a northeastern suburb of Athens.
It opened its gates to the public in 2005 and was established by the Markou family which has a long tradition of 4 generations in the winemaking business.

It was in the late 19th century when Spiridon Markou decided to cultivate his own vineyards in the area of Mesogaia, which was known since antiquity for the production of superior wine due to the ideal climate and soil. In 1920, he opened a tavern in the downtown area of Psiri where he sold his retsina (a dry white wine variety) which became famous by word of mouth.
Soon there was an extended need for greater wine production, and thus the art of winemaking became part of the Markou family. In 1983, the modern winery of the family was established in Paiania, while more vineyards were cultivated in the area of Nemea in the Peloponnese.

The Wine Museum is located at an old vineyard and exhibits a very interesting collection of old tools as well as a rich collection of photos related to wine history and tradition.
Guests can partake in wine-tasting events and try the supreme wines and products, while there is also the ability to reserve the Museum grounds and host your own reception, where the meals can be prepared by the Museum’s food catering.

The Museum is open every day from 11:00 to 19:00, except for Sundays (closed).
