Lycabettus Hill Athens 01 Lycabettus Hill in Athens: The Hill of Lycabettus is basically one of the few green spots of Athens. The hill is covered with pine trees and it is crossed by paved paths. Placed close to the centre of Athens, the hill is 304m high. In fact, it is the highest point of the Athenian basin and a great place to enjoy stunning views of the whole city, its suburbs and the sea that surrounds Athens.

On top of the hill, there is a small white-washed church dedicated to Agios (Saint) Georgios, which can be seen from many points of Athens. Apart from this church, Lycabettus hill

Lycabettus Hill Athens 02There is a semi-circular amphitheatre on its slopes, where Greek and foreign bands perform, mostly in summer.The most recommended mean to get there is with the funicular train that departs from Kolonaki neighbourhood and takes about 30 minutes to reach the top. The paved road that leads to the hill is rough and the trip can get you exhausted.
