aviaries. The "World of Reptiles", a recent addition to the park, has an impressive collection of pythons, boas, crocodiles and other reptiles. Typical Greek fauna including wolves, brown bears, foxes, wild cats and lynxes are moreover exhibited in the park.
A recreation of the ecosystem of the African Savannahs allows visitors to admire pygmy hippos, giraffes, zebra, antelopes, prairie dogs, alligators as well as lamas, jaguars, snow leopards and the very rare white lions in their natural habitats. The walk- through enclosures in the "Cheetah Land" and “Monkey Forest” are hugely popular, particularly with the children, and allow visitors to view a great number of primates and cheetahs at close quarters.
As a member of EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria), the Attica Zoo is deeply committed to environmental conservation and participates in programs aimed at the protection of endangered species, including captive breeding programs. Special educational programs and guided tours for school children are regularly conducted by the zoo to raise awareness on the importance of protecting wild life. The Zoo also offers facilities for hosting children’s picnics and parties as well as business events. |
